Finishing touches are being installed on the $400 million Tower at PNC Plaza in Pittsburgh, as the new 33-storey office tower gears up for its October 1st opening date. Since topping out at its final height of 166 metres (545 feet) last summer, the Gensler-designed Tower at PNC Plaza has become the seventh tallest building in Pittsburgh. Approximately 98% of the topped-off structure's facade has been installed to date, while work on the building's interior spaces has reached 92% completion.

The approximately 800,000 sqaure-foot tower is being billed as the world's "greenest skyscraper" and is expected to exceed the necessary criteria for LEED Platinum® certification. To achieve this, the building will utilize a number of energy efficiency features such as double-skin glazing, rain water collection, water reuse and retention systems, and a solar chimney. Upon completion, the new building at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Wood Street will serve as the new headquarters for PNC Financial Services Group.
