Just in time for the CTBUH 2015 International Conference, which began today, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat has released a new study tracking skyscraper construction in New York City.
The project maps the city's tall buildings by height and function, with an interactive version on their website to help you identify individual projects and neighbourhood landmarks.
As we noted in our overview of the tallest building constructed in each decade, highrise construction was heavily impacted by world events like the Great Depression and World Wars. In their New York City construction timeline, CTBUH overlays these events on top of the volume and height of construction in each year since 1900.
Follow our New York City Forums for live updates from the CTBUH conference, and check back later this week for SkyriseCities coverage of the event.
