For those unfamiliar with the construction industry, the term "hoarding" can seem a tad confusing when used in the context of a job site. It is a term you will see frequently on SRC, and today we aim to clarify the meaning and differentiate it from its homonym in this edition of Explainer.

Construction sites are inherently dangerous, and barriers are necessary to clearly demarcate boundaries and keep passersby safe, while protecting developers and construction firms from liability. Unlike the more commonly used homonym that you'll see in reality television, in this context, the word "hoarding" refers to the temporary fencing erected around the perimeter of a job site.
