Shoring and excavation work is well underway at the Tribeca site of Fisher Brothers and The Witkoff Group's 111 Murray Street, a new 58-storey Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates-designed residential tower set to rise 241 metres (792 feet) into the Lower Manhattan skyline. Ground was officially broken for the project earlier this year, and crews have since been working away on the early construction stages for the 157-unit skyscraper.

The curved tower draws design cues from the fashion industry and the famous glasswork of Venice and Murano, Italy, with a distinctive flare starting at the 40th floor. According to Robert Whitlock, principal architect for the development at Kohn Pedersen Fox, "The building is oriented on the site to capture the best unobstructed views from each residence and the customized façade creates a sense of symmetry and balance, with large glass windows to frame stunning Manhattan and Hudson River views and to maximize daylight exposure from every room."

The completed development will feature interior amenity spaces appointed by David Rockwell of Rockwell Group, including a lap pool, yoga studio, hammam, 3,000-square-foot fitness centre, and spa. The design of the 157 units themselves has been tasked to David Mann of MR Architecture + Décor. Landscaping for the development is being done by Edmund Hollander of Edmund Hollander Landscape Architects, specifically the private garden with a 15-foot waterfall for residents.

We will continue to keep a close eye on this development, and will be sure to return with updates as construction progresses.
