The suburban village of Oak Park — situated just west of Chicago — is most widely known in architecture circles for once being the home of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Following his settlement here in 1889, Wright designed many of the municipality's buildings that continue to attract tourists from all around the world today. Now, architects and developers are leaving their own legacy within the historic districts of Oak Park.

Spearheaded by Golub & Company and Wood Partners, the 21-storey Vantage Oak Park is bringing another 270 residential units to the city's downtown core. Located at the intersection of Lake Street and Forest Avenue, the development is just a few short blocks from the Chicago Transit Authority's Green Line and the Metra Union Pacific West commuter train. Motorists living in the development will be served by an attached garage with 588 parking stalls.

The building's units are set to feature finishes including wide-plank flooring, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. The project will host 25,000 square feet of retail space within two floors of a glass and brick-clad podium, while residents will enjoy amenities such as a fitness centre.

The tower topped off in September and cladding has since appeared on substantial portions of the Gensler-designed structure. Photos from Forum contributor harryc highlight the cladding now making an impact on Oak Park's relatively petite skyline.
