Unlike most cities, Miami's Central Business District is not its major financial district. That distinction belongs to Brickell, a dense neighbourhood that is home to some of South Florida's best restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment destinations. Its become the geographic nucleus for highrise apartment and luxury condominium towers, one of which is the currently under-construction SLS Lux

Developed by The Related Group and The Allen Morris Company, the 58-storey residential tower will offer 450 suites. The top three floors are home to 14 1,200-square-foot penthouses, featuring 12-foot ceilings, custom kitchens, and views of Biscayne Bay.

Balconies wrapping around the building ensure that every resident has access to their own outdoor terrace. The tower will also contain 84 condo hotel suites, and all residents will be able to take advantage of numerous exclusive amenities, including wifi, valet parking, and room service.

The Lux Garden Level on the ninth floor includes two pools, a multi-use sports centre, a fitness facility, an outdoor theatre, and additional indoor and outdoor recreation areas. Spanning the 45th and 46th floors, the Sky Library includes a private wine cellar, billiards room, and poker table.

One floor above, the rooftop terrace offers penthouse residents exclusive access to a pool, sundeck, and spa. At ground level, a restaurant by chef Katsuya Uechi and cocktail lounge by SBar aim to invite Brickell's vibrant nightlife indoors.

Designed by the world-renowned but locally based firm Arquitectonica, the tower will incorporate an LED lighting system on its facade. Photos captured by The Related Group in a recent drone flight show the project (right) now rising above the busy South Miami Avenue corridor adjacent to Brickell City Centre and the pair of towers at Brickell Heights. With an expected completion date of fall 2017 for SLS Lux, Brickell is quickly becoming an even bigger mixed-use destination.
