Developed by a team of real estate professionals — including Louis Birdman, Gregg Covin and Kevin Venger — under the 1000 Biscayne Tower banner, the 62-storey luxury condominium project will be Zaha Hadid's first residential skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere.

The Pritzker Prize-winning architect is instituting a dramatic glass-fibre reinforced concrete shell for its exoskeleton, the first of its kind anywhere in the United States. A mockup of the facade is now being assembled on site and will be visible in the next few weeks, giving passersby a glimpse into the the exciting future of the site.

The sculptural tower and its large windows yield views of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The building houses a variety of living arrangements, including duplex townhomes, half-floor residences, full-floor penthouses, and one duplex penthouse. Unit sizes are very generous — starting at 4,500 square feet — while the building itself only contains 83 residences in total. In addition, each unit comes with a sizeable terrace, plus interiors which feature ceiling heights from 10 to an unparalleled 20 feet.

With 30,000 square feet of amenity space offered, there's no shortage of things to do. Nestled within the crown of the tower is the Sky Lounge and double-height aquatic centre complete with an indoor pool. On the same floor, a multimedia theatre offers a space for movies and presentations.

While the roof of a residential building is often nothing special — typically it's used to store mechanical equipment — a proposed private helipad will make the tower stand out even more among its peers. Atop the building's podium, a fitness centre and spa occupy a large area opposite the outdoor terrace, which includes another swimming pool and plenty of seating.

Hadid's architectural style often implements sweeping curves both inside and out, creating fluid and dynamic structures and spaces. Given the development's proximity to Miami's world-famous beaches, the building fits into its surroundings with ease. Mid-December construction photos by Daniel Azoulay depict the tower about five floors above the ground. Construction workers can be seen pouring concrete amidst a huge web of steel rebar. Now that the holiday break is over, construction is kicking into high gear with completion expected in the fall of 2018.
