An icon on Vancouver's ever-growing skyline since it topped out in 2015, the Trump International Hotel and Tower is now getting its final touches before the building officially opens later this year. Triangular in shape, the structure is characterized by a 45-degree twist as it ascends towards its final height of 188 metres. Work on the unique glass and steel ground-level canopy designed by Arthur EricksonMusson Cattell Mackey Partnership and dysarchitecture has made noticeable progress on West Georgia Street since our last update.

Indeed, recent pictures from Forum user mcminsen show the curved awning fully coated with transparent glazing, while the supporting beams are now fully covered with grey metal panels. Additionally, white sculpted panels have appeared on the left side of the building's main entrance, where renderings indicate a green wall covered with plants.

In the meantime, the sidewalk has been partially reopened to passersby. Some design elements of the new public space include large concrete pads interrupted by what appear to be dark granite slabs, while the property line is demarcated by planters to add some needed greenery to an otherwise very mineral environment. At the back of the building, the secondary and main vehicular entrance is also close to completion, with the glass components of a rather simple awning waiting to be installed on the white joists visible below.

Developed by The Trump Organization and Holborn Group, the 63-storey skyscraper will consist of a luxurious 147-room hotel taking up the first 15 floors, and 218 residential units on the remaining upper levels. More images and information about the project can be found in the Database file linked below.
