Progress has been moving along steadily at Westrich Pacific's Ultima in downtown Edmonton. Since our last update, the 32-storey condominium tower is quickly blending into the streetscape of the trendy Boardwalk and Warehouse Districts at the north end of the city core. Visible from the soon-to-be-complete Rogers Place arena and adjacent to the red-brick restaurant row housed within the Boardwalk building at the heart of the Warehouse District, the new tower will be in the midst of all the action, just steps away from Bay/Enterprise Square LRT Station.
Recent photos reveal a more complete look for Ultima after the framing-in and cladding of the podium windows and two-storey retail level, combined with the removal of the waste tube earlier this month. At street level, the traditionally composed four-storey red-brick podium is beginning to blend into the overall aesthetic of the historic Warehouse District. In the images below, Ultima's podium can be seen in the context of the local streetscape.
Once complete, Ultima will boast an impressive array of amenities, including an outdoor barbecue area overlooking the nearby ICE District, complete with a hot tub, fireplace, and ample seating, along with a fully equipped indoor gym. At ground level, the podium will feature a two-storey, 5,600-square-foot retail space, enclosed in glass and featuring direct access to busy 103 Street. Directly above, the third and fourth floors will house four residential live-work lofts ranging from 765 to 922 square feet.
With completion expected for summer 2016, it will not be long until residents begin to move in, bringing further density and urban character to the quickly evolving Warehouse District. Once the nearby ICE District is complete, the transformation of this popular corner of Downtown Edmonton will be well on its way to fruition.
SkyriseCities will be sure to continue with updates on this project as progress continues. For additional information, check out our Database file and associated Forum thread, and feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
