As a central fixture of Melbourne's ongoing construction boom covered by SkyriseCities back in late 2015, the Elenberg Fraser-designed Tower Melbourne by developer Chip Eng Seng is but the latest among a series of proposed tower projects set to radically transform the Melbourne skyline over the next few years.

At 71 storeys tall, the distinct undulating glass-clad exterior of Tower Melbourne will have a dramatic effect on the surrounding skyline.

To be located at 150 Queen Street in central Melbourne, residents will be in the heart of the action, steps to transit, and within walking distance of several of the city's museums, galleries, and other attractions, including the Etihad Stadium, Melbourne Aquarium, and the University of Melbourne.

From below, Tower Melbourne will strike an imposing figure on the surrounding cityscape, with the tower's reflective glass facade providing a point of visual interest, especially when lit up at night.

Centrally located, Tower Melbourne will do its best to blend into the vibrant, urban landscape, joining a row of local shops and restaurants along busy Queen Street in downtown Melbourne.

Currently in pre-construction, units as Tower Melbourne will feature modern interiors appointed with sleek, contemporary designs, and floor-to-ceiling windows offering residents fantastic views of the city.

Once complete, Tower Melbourne will bring hundreds of new residents into the area, following a trend now in motion around the globe in which people are increasingly opting to live centrally, choosing the convenience and excitement of city living over the more traditional suburban ideal espoused by generations past.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project in the near future, once construction has begun. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
