With Calgary's population recently leading the country in population growth, new housing was in order for the city, and its newest luxury condo building will provide just that. Smith 17 is a condo and townhouse development by Grosvenor that is currently under construction. The architects for the project are BKDI Architects, the interior designers are Trepp Design Inc., and sales and marketing for the project is being undertaken by MAC Marketing Solutions.

Smith is a 57-metre highrise condo development with 18 storeys and 127 condo units, equipped with various high-end amenities, located near the entertainment and business districts of the city. The amenities include fibre optic wiring throughout the building, a tool library, party spaces, a bike-share program, and individual security systems for street-access homes, as well as a concierge that takes care of everyday tasks such as car-detailing and a dry-cleaning service. Smith 17 also has an underground parkade with controlled building access for additional security.

The aesthetic of Smith 17 as designed by BDKI Architects is modern, with windows lining the entire building and alternating brown and white vertical accents, as well as small green spaces surrounding the building and separating it from the street.

The interior design for the units will be separated into three colour palettes: light, medium, and dark. Special features in the units include laminate hardwood flooring in living areas, wool-blend carpeting in bedrooms, and Nuheat flooring in main bathrooms.

Construction on the project has been progressing well, with 15 floors complete. Once the outer structure is completed, interior design firm Trepp Designs Inc. will begin working on the interiors of the building. The estimated completion date for Smith 17 is in Winter/Spring of 2017.

We will update you on the progress of this project as construction continues. Additional information on this project can be found in the Database file linked below. Want to get involved in the discussion or share your photos? Check out the associated Forum thread or leave a comment below.
