Sales have been a resounding success since the launch of Tour des Canadiens 2 in September 2015, so much so that developers Canderel, Cadillac Fairview, Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and Club de hockey Canadien have announced the addition of 12 more floors to the Montreal condo. The sequel to the nearly complete first Tour des Canadiens tower, the second building will now include 575 units housed within 49 storeys.
The additional dozen floors will feature Signature Suites with unobstructed views of Downtown Montreal. The units, with prices starting under $300,000 CAD, will implement a contemporary European-inspired design. The project's commitment to unique spaces is exhibited in its diverse amenity offerings, which include a 50th floor Skylounge. After working up a sweat in the fitness centre, residents can cool down in the two swimming pools that are supplemented with a patio and fireplace. Sure to be a popular destination for hockey fans, a Montreal Canadiens-inspired games room will come equipped with arena-style seating, flatscreen televisions, a bar, and a billiards table.
Buying into the building also gives residents unprecedented access to the famous hockey club. Priority access to game tickets, Habs store discounts, and private viewings of practice sessions are just some of the benefits they'll be able to enjoy. "We are passionate about hockey and our fans are passionate about our sport, our team and our city," said Kevin Gilmore, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of the Montreal Canadiens. "Tour des Canadiens 2 is a testament to these shared passions. It is an incomparable residential complex in the sports and entertainment heart of the city, which allows residents to be part of the action at the Bell Centre and brings the hockey club even closer to its fans."
Featuring a design by Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects and Béïque, Legault, Thuot Architects, the tower's tapered edges and glass envelope lend comparisons to an icicle. The building's crown will glow at night, adding an elegant sculptural accent to the skyline. On the ground, a stone podium complements the preserved heritage building on site. A four-storey atrium is set to overlook St. Antoine-Jean d’Estrees plaza and provide connections to Windsor Station and the Bell Centre, home of the Canadiens.
Bolstered by strong sales, the building is expected to begin construction in the summer of 2017, with completion scheduled for 2019.
