Toronto-based architects Giannone Petricone Associates are lending their refined design expertise to Calgary's latest condominium development, the 25-storey Verve by Fram Building Group and Slokker Real Estate Group. Located in the burgeoning East Village, Verve will front onto "The Riff," a diagonal pedestrian route slicing through the streetscape.
A five-floor podium will anchor the building and host three dynamic live-work suites. Serving residents and the public will be 10,000 square feet of retail space. Oversized balconies, stainless steel appliances, and flexible storage compartments are just a few of the interior's defining characteristics. In an effort to think green, water-saving fixtures, an extensive landscaping program, and double-glazed aluminum windows are each being implemented.
At the podium level, a large amenity area provides residents with a variety of opportunities for relaxation, lounging, entertaining, and exercise. Another space on the sixth floor features outdoor seating arranged around a barbecue, fire-pit, hot tub, and yoga area. For even better views, a rooftop lookout terrace gives residents of lower floors the chance to admire an aerial perspective of the neighbourhood.
Photos from Forum contributor Beltline Bobby indicate that heavy machinery has arrived at the site, signalling the impending start of excavation. Soon, a tower with fritted glass and colourful vertical highlights will occupy the property, adding 290 units to the mixed-use East Village.
