Developer Steiner NYC is making headway on its latest slim addition to the New York City skyline. The Hub at 333 Schermerhorn Street in Downtown Brooklyn is a 53-storey residential tower that is nearing exterior completion at 176 metres (577 feet).

Interior work is progressing as crews fit out the 740 rental units included in the development, 20 percent of which will be set aside as affordable housing. A diversity of amenity spaces will be featured, from a large landscaped outdoor sundeck to a fully equipped fitness studio. With the provision of nearly 35,000 square feet of ground floor retail, the building will be a significant contributor to the vitality of the BAM Cultural District.

The building's facade is expressed by a combination of red brick and expansive windows. Designed by Dattner Architects and Goldstein Hill + West, a few gaps in the cladding remain at the top. The building's box truss crown, which mimics Steiner Studios, is also coming together.

The development is positioned just across the street from BAM South at 286 Ashland Place, another slender highrise tower that fills in a pocket of Brooklyn with residential density. The staggering growth of the borough will be realized when residents move into their new homes later this year.
