A low-slung bunker-like building in Montreal once occupied by offices for a Canadian power workers union has been demolished to make way for a new highrise project by real estate developer Mondev. The tower will be sited at 20 de Maisonneuve and climb 22 storeys into the sky.

Planning documents indicate the development will hold 166 apartments within a 75-metre structure. Commercial space will line the ground floor frontage, while amenities for residents — including a pool, clubhouse, roof terrace, and fitness centre — will be positioned on the fourth floor. Prefabricated cladding panels will be applied to the structure, which boasts a bold black, white, and red colour scheme.

The property is adjacent to Saint-Laurent Station on the Green Line of the Montreal Metro rapid transit system. The station is one of only a few in the downtown core to not have an integrated entrance with another building. Excavation for the project has progressed to about three levels below grade, with crews expected to begin placing the base for a tower crane soon.
