The mixed-use Midtown Five is rising quickly on the Midtown scene in Miami. Offering scenic views of Biscayne Bay, South Beach, and Downtown Miami, the project will stand among other similar projects built in the Midtown area, including Midtown Two, Midtown Three, and Midtown Four. Magellan Development Group of Chicago purchased the site and employed the help of Loewenberg Architects, also from Chicago, to design the project. The building is perched between two art districts, Wynwood and the Design District, and will also be minutes from the beach.
The project is currently under construction, and is set to be completed later in 2016. Cladding is currently underway on the topped-off building, with only three tower floors remaining open to the elements. Glass installation has also begun, with work proceeding on the fifth tower floor. At a height of 309 feet, Midtown Five will incorporate 26 storeys offering 400 one- ,two-, and three-bedroom residences, 22,271 square feet of retail space and 2,728 square feet of office space, as well as a 450-car parking garage.
The exterior aesthetic of the building is wide and glassy yet warm with palm trees surrounding the building, typical of a Miami condo development. The interior of the residences will include nine-foot ceilings, stainless steel appliances, and in-unit washers and dryers. Additional services and amenities offered include car-charging stations, a fitness centre, a pool, and a massage room.
