The Kahanoff Centre is a unique facility in the heart of the Beltline district of Calgary, run by the Kahanoff Centre For Charitable Activities (KCCA), providing office and conference space to Calgary charities and nonprofits at discounted rates, to the benefit of the Calgary community. In February of 2014 the Centre began construction on an expansion building known as Kahanoff Two, which would be attached to their existing building.

The project, a 12 storey office building designed by Dialog Architects, and built by Cana Construction, isn’t your typical office building, as it features a 270 seat performance space and two floors of dance studio space along with office floors.

Decidedly Jazz Danceworks is the anchor tenant of the addition, and is already using the dance studio space. The Dance studios face out to the normally shady, north side of building, but beautiful tall glass walls let in large amounts of natural light. The main performance e space on the second level has fold out seating for events, and the seats not only have a view of the dance floor, but also the Calgary skyline.

The rest of the office space is almost complete, with only a bit of work on the upper 3 floors left to complete. Very little drywall was used in the office space construction as the walls are made using a modular system from DIRTT Systems. The walls can be moved around and re-configured to fit various scenarios, and make inside construction quicker, and less messy.

Many of the walls use modular glass paneling and this allows for good interior natural light.
