Edmonton's already extensive network of indoor pedways is continuing expansion, as new buildings sprout up in the central business district. The Kelly Ramsey tower is one of the major developments redefining a downtown plot of land, and naturally, it will feature a number of above-ground connections to neighbouring structures.

Built by Pangman Development Corp. with architecture by Dialog, Kelly Ramsey's 28 storeys are now clad in a sleek curtain wall glazing system. The office tower is targeting LEED Gold certification, with features like energy efficient lighting and a unique HVAC system individually controllable on each floor.

The brick and sandstone facades of the old Kelly and Ramsey buildings that occupied the site, gutted in a 2009 fire, have been rebuilt. The recently unveiled polished exterior of the structures stand in sharp contrast with the charred buildings that had previously marked the property.

An underground pedway will link Kelly Ramsey with the adjacent Scotia Place. The BMO Building, located on the same block, will also be connected with the new tower. Passersby will note that the steel frame for the above-ground link to Manulife Centre has begun assembly as it stretches across 101 Street NW. By incorporating the building with its surroundings, making it an easily accessible destination, the multifaceted project is extending its presence beyond its site boundaries. KPMG and energy company Enbridge will anchor the tower as crews approach the expected August delivery date.
