Rosslyn is an unincorporated area in Northern Virginia's Arlington County that is situated directly across the Potomac River from Washington D.C. Characterized as an 'urban village,' some might mistake Rosslyn's highrise skyline for that of the American capital, which is comparably low- and mid-rise in building typology. Rosslyn is populated mostly by gleaming office towers, and as a result, its nightlife is largely nonexistent. County planners are hoping to change all that by introducing a slew of residential and retail into the core, and The JBG Companies is leading the charge with their 31-storey Central Place development.

The development is located at 1800 North Lynn Street in the heart of the central business district. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle, the glass-faced 377-unit building features a gentle curved elevation and a swooping crown. Inset balconies provide outdoor space for residents while generating views of the surrounding area. Outside their apartment suites, tenants will enjoy a wealth of amenities including lounges and an expansive sundeck pool with cabanas.

The project's office component will be contained within a separate 31-storey tower, easily identified by its lack of balconies. The steel and glass building will be capped by a dramatic observation deck, taking full advantage of its distinct status as the tallest mixed-use project in the Washington D.C. area.

At ground level, a lively public plaza serves as an interactive platform for impromptu performances and robust programming. Supplemented by numerous dining and retail spaces, this central community asset is expected to become the centrepiece of Rosslyn's revitalization.
