A luxury rental building in Calgary's booming Beltline district developed by Vancouver-based Maple Projects Inc. has just about completed exterior work. Strategically located between Central Memorial Park and Beaulieu Gardens, the development offers close access to open space and the conveniences of urban life in the core.

Simply named 1215 after its address on 5 Street Southwest, the 14-storey project holds 137 units. One-bedroom layouts begin at 485 square feet while two-bedroom spaces max out at 835 square feet. In addition to underground parking, the development also includes a main floor fitness centre plus a patio and terrace on the second storey.

The tower's construction hoist remains affixed to the east wall, which is emphasized by protruding balconies. The west elevation shares a comparable design language, while the opposite sides are defined mostly by a window wall cladding system. The north face implements a checkerboard-like aesthetic to spruce up what would normally be a blank wall.

The NORR Architects-designed project is scheduled to be delivered in the fall of 2016, giving crews a few months to appoint the interiors. Though it's not one of Calgary's largest developments, 1215 is a welcome addition to the densifying Beltline community.
