Following its November 2015 ground breaking, construction of the new headquarters for financial technology company NCR is progressing smoothly. The Midtown Atlanta project at 8th and Spring Streets boasts an impressive development and design team comprised of Gensler, HKS, and Duda Paine Architects.
NCR announced its intention to move from Duluth, Georgia, to Atlanta earlier in 2015, citing the benefits of the nearby Georgia Tech campus and the rich talent it fosters. Developed with Cousins Properties, the tower will stand at 22 storeys. The property is also large enough to hold a second phase, if the company decides to expand its downtown presence in the future.
The 485,000 rentable square feet inside the building represent a $300 million investment into the area, putting it close to Atlanta's leading innovation and academic hubs. The development is being designed with the environment in mind and is expected to save 1.3 million gallons of water annually compared to an average commercial office building of this size. When combined with other water and energy conservation measures, the project will likely attain a high LEED certification grade.
State-of-the-art office space will meet unique features and amenities for tenants' use. An 'urban living room' will encourage pedestrian vibrancy at street level, while a 'super floor' will contain dedicated exercise spaces for workers. Project partners are targeting a 2018 delivery date for the development.
