Currently rising within what locals refer to as the 'Paris End' of downtown Melbourne, long home to the city's Financial District and many of historic Melbourne's finest Victorian edifices, Cbus Property's latest residential tower, 35 Spring Street, is set to bring new life to the heart of Australia's second-largest city.

Designed by Bates Smart, the $350 million AUD, 43-storey condo tower will bring 270 residential units to the busy metropolitan neighbourhood, the tower's striking design to become a defining feature of the local skyline. Featuring a series of randomly sized rectilinear window frames, the tower's glass facade has been provided with an extra bit of visual drama.

Inspired in large part by Melbourne's historic Flinders Lane Garment District, the thoroughly modern exterior has been designed to complement, rather than defy, its surrounding historical context. Its distinctive facade has been described by the developer as a "woven veil," framing each balcony and terrace, a reference to Melbourne's industrial heritage.

Priced from $495,000 to $6,000,000 AUD, units will come in a range of configurations, from 610-square-foot one-bedrooms, to 3,550-square-foot penthouse suites. Residents will have access to an array of amenities, including a beautifully appointed double-height lobby and main entrance with oak timbered ceilings, 24-hour concierge services, a fireplace, lounge, and restaurant, along with a fitness centre, pool, rooftop deck, and private event space.

Once completed in 2017, the latest addition to Melbourne's 'Paris End' will place residents in the heart of the city's cultural centre. Footsteps from nearby Flinders Lane, home to the city's best galleries, cafes, and restaurants, along with several of the city's premier theatres and event venues, 35 Spring Street promises to be a top destination for those desiring a truly metropolitan lifestyle.
