St Kilda Junction is a major intersection in Melbourne that has recently become a magnet for development. And despite residents' worry about the capacity of the area to handle this influx of growth, its biggest project to date has been approved by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). Set for the meeting point of St Kilda Road, Punt Road, and Wellington Street, Drekoncile plans to build a two-tower residential scheme called One St Kilda Junction next to the lego-like Icon tower.

The two buildings will rise 26 and 10 storeys — 96 and 43 metres respectively — with a skybridge connecting them. The tallest tower stretches far beyond Port Phillip Council's preferred height limit of 10 storeys. A move to establish new height restrictions for the development-stressed area was rebuffed by the tribunal. In giving the overall project the green light, a controversial two-storey wraparound advertising screen that would be attached to the western facade was also approved.

The building's blueprints call for 203 apartments served by 397 parking spaces. The developer had originally intended to build a single tower with a sloping rooftop, though the plan was altered to allow more sunlight to reach Wellington Street. The Plus Architecture-designed project emphasizes curved corners and staggered fenestration. The sloping rooftop, though not as dramatic as the original proposal, has remained a key design feature.
