Nearly six months have passed since we last checked in on the progress of Broccolini's L'Avenue in the heart of Montreal. With its two-toned curtain wall glass having climbed to the current apex of the concrete structure — and work continuing on the tower's signature crystalline peak — the angled elevations of the 50-storey project can now truly be appreciated.

The 184-metre volume will hold over 300 condominiums ranging in size from 500 to 1,500 square feet. Penthouses offer even more living space — the largest allocates 5,300 square feet at the top of the tallest residential building in the city. L'Avenue forms part of a growing highrise enclave that has developed around the Bell Centre, the home of the prestigious Montreal Canadiens hockey club. The 50-storey Tour des Canadiens and its succeeding sibling tower are adding a 24/7 vibrancy to the immediate area.

When completed in 2017, residents will have a wealth of amenities to indulge in. An open-air terrace with a pool straddling the interior and outdoors, an indoor lounge and bar, party room, media room, and two-level exercise room are the main conveniences being offered.

Three distinct volumes, the middle clad in a charcoal colour scheme, comprise the sloping silhouette of the Page + Steele-designed building. Each section culminates at a different height, creating a series of sloping rooflines that produce a dramatic crown. The project's podium heightens Montreal's urban fabric with a porous ground floor and several floors of office and retail space available for leasing.
