Over the intervening six months since our last update, construction has been progressing below grade at the site of Related Midwest's One Bennett Park, the Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed, 67-storey residential tower currently rising in the Streeterville district of downtown Chicago

Viewed from above, the site today is a flurry of activity, as foundations and load-bearing walls are poured over rebar, and the footprint of the structure comes slowly but surely into focus. Below, a close-up view of a load-bearing wall, with rebar ready for the next pour, can be easily made out.

Captured in early October, the most recent images on our Forum reveal crews hard at work. The site is still well below grade, and construction continues on the foundation and lower level of the soon-to-be 843-foot, masonry-clad condo tower, which will be joined by a brand new 1.7-acre public park.

Above, a series of cross-bracing steel struts can be seen, which help hold up the edges of the excavation, allowing construction crews to safely work within the site. The ongoing installation of rebar will soon lead to more and more concrete pours, which will eventually bring the site above grade. Below, workers are busy installing cable runs, subterranean sealed PVC pipes which protect and carry the building's numerous power lines and other communications services.

Once complete, One Bennett Park will be a welcome addition to the local skyline, the traditional material aesthetic of the masonry-clad tower to give the new development a much more classic look. More befitting the Chicago architecture of old, the new tower will blend nicely into its urban environment, as the Windy City long known for its eponymous sense of style.
