After breaking ground in June 2015, the 48-storey Solitair Brickell in Miami is fulfilling the architectural fit and form depicted in the renderings. The rental highrise by developers ZOM and AIG Global Real Estate will include 438 units with a helping of ground-level retail comprising approximately 7,500 square feet.

The project was designed by ADD Inc, which has since merged with Stantec, and features a distinct design inspired by the spiky trunks of Medjool Palm trees. While the development's sweeping windows collect an appropriate amount of natural light and permit wide views of the cityscape, the orientation of the building avoids direct sunlight and harsh solar radiation.

Sited at 86 SW 8th Street, the development neighbours the massive mixed-use Brickell City Centre complex, a highly anticipated shopping and entertainment destination that will undoubtedly enhance Solitair Brickell's appeal. Prior to ground breaking, the parking ramp feeding into the adjacent Brickell Bayview Center office tower was demolished, making way for the jagged-edge building. A new round of photos from the site shows the dramatic effect that the sawtooth balconies, which are already being slapped with white paint on their undersides, have on the tower's growing silhouette. Angular blue glass has also begun installation on the podium levels, providing passersby with a more complete picture of how the building will look upon completion in 2018.
