Known today as Zero2ONE, or the Exchange Place, a proposal by local South African developer and architect FWJK to build a 42-storey tower in Cape Town has come to light. The mixed-use tower would include 642 residential units above more than 6,000 square metres of ground-level retail, and would become the city's new tallest tower.

To be located on the norhtwest corner of Strand and Adderly Streets, directly across from the the main bus station, the downtown development would redefine the local skyline, standing a full ten storeys higher than the current tallest building, the 32-storey Portside Tower. Capped with a rooftop observation deck, Zero2ONE would offer residents with unmatched city and ocean views, which will likely to be one of the new development's major draws once the project moves into the marketing stage.

With few further details currently available, those interested in the project will just have to wait and see what the coming weeks and months have in store, as the future of Cape Town's urban development and upward ascent hang in the balance.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as further details continue to emerge. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
