Window wall had just begun installation at 498 Drake Street in Vancouver when we last checked on the residential tower's progress in June. The DIALOG-designed project brought to Yaletown by the Wall Group of Companies looks substantially different today, having risen multiple storeys. With its topping out at 43 storeys set to occur soon, new photos by Forum contributor mcminsen put the highrise into context.

As cladding continues to seal the building and protect the construction crew from the elements, several gaps in the facade remain. That's because of the externally mounted tower crane, which requires the annexation of several units in order to be properly secured to the building. Once the structure reaches its full height, cladding application is completed, and major mechanical equipment has been delivered and positioned, the crane will be dismantled, allowing the fit and finish of the subject units to move forward.

The building's 300 apartment units will be well-served by a menagerie of amenities, including an outdoor terrace, fitness facility, several meeting spaces, an indoor social lounge, and retail lining Drake and Richards Streets. The development adds much-needed rental stock to a housing market that has raised national questions and concerns about affordability.
