Coming soon to the Canary Wharf district of central London, LBS Properties' The Madison, a 53-storey luxury condo designed by Make Architects, is set to transform the local skyline. With demolition and site clearance now complete, excavation work has commenced, and the slender glass tower will begin its ascent in about six months' time.

Soon to become home to roughly 600-700 residents, the 423-unit condo tower will bring a considerable influx of life to the area. The new Canary Wharf-adjacent development will place buyers within easy walking distance of transit, including the future Crossrail Station set to open in 2018. Within a quick commute to the city centre, financial district, and many of London's premier attractions, neighbourhoods, restaurants, and nightlife, The Madison will more than likely be a hit among young urban professionals.

The tower's slender design will allow for the inclusion of a sizeable half-acre public green space, complete with gardens, pathways, and ample seating. Within the tower itself, residents will be treated to a host of amenities, including a lounge, theatre, and gym, all of which will be located on the 16th floor and known as the Highline Club. To be set within the context of a series of outdoor terraces, the Highline Club will offer 360-degree views, along with an indoor 12-metre pool and attached spa and steam room.

Well appointed and laid out with an eye towards maximizing interior space and utility, every one of The Madison's 423 units has been designed to make residents feel at home, with sales already beginning to take off. Marketing itself as the jewel of the coveted "E14" postal code district in central London, The Madison will offer a minimum of underground parking while providing every resident with their own private bike stall, a nod to both the development's prime location and to the latest in progressive urban planning. Set to capture high marks for sustainability, The Madison will also feature a number of underground charging stations for electric vehicles, thus furthering the tower's green vision.

Once complete, The Madison will place residents within easy access to the best the city has to offer, as the arrival of the Crossrail in 2018 will add connections to the City, West End, and Heathrow Airport.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
