The ambitious scheme to build the tallest building in the Canadian province of Quebec has been revamped and refined, as announced today by Michel Dallaire, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Groupe Dallaire. On their proposed site along Boulevard Laurier in suburban Quebec City, the project team has taken the concept for the four-tower Le Phare de Québec development further, releasing a brand new set of images to coincide with the informative press conference.

Groupe Dallaire has tapped local practice Alpha Architecture and the internationally recognized Gensler to design the $650 million CAD development, which will host residential, commercial, office, and hotel uses across two million square feet of space. The central public space, to become the heart of the future complex, has also been modified to maximize sunlight and fresh air.

New to the plan is a 750-seat multimedia concert hall featuring world-class acoustics, with Steve Barakatt pegged as the venue's creative director. This cultural space joins the previously proposed elements of the project, which include a 150-room hotel and a public observation deck atop the 250-metre, 65-storey tower.

The project has received favourable feedback from Quebec City's Planning Commission so far, though no final approval has yet been granted. The project team will now take their vision to the public, which could result in further refinements and alterations. Since the development proposes a far greater density and height than the existing permissions of 29 floors, a rezoning will also need to be granted before construction can begin. If all goes smoothly, Dallaire anticipates an early 2017 start date for the 250-metre signature tower. The skyscraper would likely take about four years to complete, with the other towers rising over a six-year timeframe.
