UK-based architecture firm Foster + Partners is central to a proposal put forward by developer Florida East Coast Realty and Corigin Real Estate Group that includes plans for a twin-tower residential development with a reported height of 1,049 feet apiece, which would easily rank the highrise structures as the tallest by far to grace the Miami skyline. Set to bring 660 residential units to Miami Beach, the Brickell-area development would redefine the local skyline, the project part and parcel of the area's recent high-density growth.

To be built upon a series of stilt support beams, there would be a sizeable 56,800 square feet of public open space below the towers, an unusual allowance made possible by plans to include underground parking. Designed to boost urban vitality, the planned pedestrian plaza would also include room for restaurants, gallery space, and retail. While further details remain to be seen, as the project website is little more than a teaser landing page, this development would be transformative for Miami, part of ongoing efforts by city builders, urban planners, and developers alike to introduce a more metropolitan flavour into the broader city.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as new information comes to light. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
