In the two months since our last update, progress has been moving along at the site of One Bennett Park, a 67-storey residential tower designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects for Related Midwest, and the first few floors of the structure are now visible above grade. Located in the heart of the Streeterville district in downtown Chicago within a few blocks of the waterfront, the new development is just beginning to take shape. The latest images on our Forum reveal the core of the first three floors poking up from the corner of the build site.

The project is rising in the corner of what will become a beautifully landscaped public green space. The aptly named One Bennett Park will take up just a small portion of the total build site as seen below.

Visible at the bottom right of the above image, work has also been progressing with the reconstruction of the existing underground parking garage, a remnant from a previously cancelled 49-storey tower once planned for the site, which will now be shared among the new development's 345 units. Viewed in the image below, a close-up shot of the work in progress highlights the extent of the work completed to date, with the elevator shaft rising just ahead of the surrounding floor plates.

Once complete, One Bennett Park will be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, part of the ongoing transformation of downtown Chicago, and in particular of the north side of the downtown waterfront district, an area that has seen an explosion of high-density development over the last few years along with the adjacent River North and Near North Side districts.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
