Internationally recognized architecture and design practice Aedas plans to make their mark on the Shenzhen skyline with a 200-metre-tall office tower called the Gmond International Building. Described by the firm as a "representative regeneration project of the old town in Shenzhen," the development will be added to the concrete jungle of the Shenzhen cityscape, which saw the completion of more skyscrapers in 2016 than any other city in the world.

The skyscraper will primarily house the headquarters of Tellus-Gmond, with Grade-5A lettable office spaces and a jewelry trading centre filling out the remaining interior components. Symbolizing prosperity and "moral high ground," a growing bamboo plant serves as the inspiration for the architectural expression. Released renderings portray several aerial decks of greenery, with vegetation sprouting out from the building envelope.

The massing of the podium proves ideal for the placement of unique landscaped staircases, public platforms, and eco-friendly rooftop gardens. The sinuous facade of the podium resembles bamboo leaves, elegantly enclosing the commercial uses and forming a cohesive relationship with the tower above. Aedas has suggested a completion date of 2019.
