A decade ago, there wasn't much skyscraper representation in London's Stratford area. But with the 2012 Olympic Games and the legacy projects that remain, the neighbourhood has become the city's newest hub for leisure and culture. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the largest park created in Europe over the past 150 years, and a remarkable conclave of world-class sports venues await the residents of a now-booming development scene. The fast-emerging Stratford is developing a skyline of its own, with Telford Homes at the head of its evolution. Their two-tower 38- and 12-storey Stratosphere project has reached its structural high point, with the facade sealing in the bones of what will be a 307-apartment complex.

Boasting striking views of the City of London, Canary Wharf, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and the 1.9-million-square-foot Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, each unit inside Stratosphere will feature top-of-the-line living spaces. London designer Urban Myth has crafted the kitchens, which are outfitted with stone counter tops and integrated Smeg appliances. Woodstrip laminate flooring comes standard throughout every apartment.

The corners of the Allies and Morrison-designed building provide for semi-outdoor winter gardens within the flats, which double as quiet amenity spaces. Residential conveniences and services include a 24-hour concierge, with a private gymnasium, Wi-Fi lounge, and private terrace all perched atop the tower's pinnacle, hidden from view by the tower's parapet.

The shorter brick-clad tower has assumed its structural form, fulfilling the materiality and massing expressed in the rendering. The taller tower, meanwhile, will be given clearance to move onto its interior fit and finish once it is fully enveloped by its external glazing. Possessions are expected later this year, marking another highrise completion for the red-hot neighbourhood.
