Widely considered to be the leading authority on skyscraper statistics, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has deemed Shenzhen's Ping An Finance Center complete. The 599-metre-tall monolith designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and developed by Ping An Finance Center Construction & Development has become the tallest building in Shenzhen, the second tallest in China, and the fourth tallest on the planet, sitting behind the Burj Khalifa, Shanghai Tower, and Makkah Royal Clock Tower.

Primarily occupied by owners Ping An Life Insurance Company of China, the development includes a large public atrium filled to the brim with stores, restaurants, and ample transit connectivity. The tower's prismatic form resembles a taught steel cable that tapers to crown the structure with a pyramidal roof. Plans to adorn the building with a huge spire appear to have been mothballed.

A streamlined shape combined with its eight composite megacolumns, the tower reduces baseline wind loads by 35 percent. Ping An Finance Center employs the largest stainless steel facade in the world, utilizing a total of 1,700 tons of 316L stainless steel. Its resistance to corrosion is among its many benefits, ensuring a consistent appearance for decades to come.
