Currently on the rise in the South Yarra district of Melbourne, 661 Chapel Street will continue the current development spree that the area has seen lately, adding 30 storeys and 127 luxury units to the north end of the popular urban neighbourhood. Located along a tram line, just a few stops south of the city centre, 661 Chapel Street, designed by the Melbourne-based Bird de la Coeur architects for international developer Gamuda Land, will transform a currently underutilized site into a soaring luxury condo that will eventually be home to more than 200 new residents.

While the exterior of the tower is reminiscent of most modern builds, it is the well-appointed interior, complete with a plethora of designer finishes and amenity spaces, that sets the building apart.

Introduced via a grand, bluestone-cobbled porte-cochere, the four-level lobby will be home to a massive lighting installation by Israeli-born artist Omer Arbel, while the walls will be adorned with pieces by British artist Damien Hirsch in conjunction with legendary French crystal maker Lalique. Floor-to-ceiling picture windows will let the outside in, providing a clear view of the outer gardens and cityscape beyond, making the airy lobby and entranceway the showpiece of the tower.

While the highest-end luxury suites will occupy floors 22 to 30, the rest of the tower will be similarly luxe, featuring top-quality finishes and appliances. All residents will be welcome to make use of the 25-metre rooftop lap pool, two-storey library and reading room, and the enclosed winter garden.

Offering panoramic views of the Melbourne skyline, 661 Chapel Street will place residents in the heart of the action of South Yarra a bustling urban centre in its own right that is full of unique shops, restaurants, and bars. Proximity to downtown, and the direct connection to transit, not to mention 24-hour valet service, will undoubtedly combine to make this a top address.

Slated for completion in 2018, 661 Chapel Street will be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, South Yarra, and Melbourne in general.
