Coming soon to central Auckland, Hengyi Pacific's $300 million (NZD), 57-storey, 295-unit The Pacifica, designed by Plus Architecture, will significantly transform the downtown skyline. The tower will soon become one of the city's tallest, as New Zealand's largest city is in the midst of a development boom.

Set to rise at 10-12 Commerce Street in the city centre, The Pacifica will place residents in the heart of the downtown core, steps to transit, and within easy walking distance of the waterfront as well as many of the city's best shops, restaurants, and other attractions. Featuring a bold, twisting exterior wrap from the podium up to nearly the halfway point of the tower, The Pacifica will be a standout structure not only in terms of its height, but due to its unique design touches as well.

Reported to mimic the look of two intertwined pikopiko ferns, the upward twist will unfurl towards the top half of the tower, transitioning into a straight vertical line that will continue on to the crown. From a functionality standpoint, the architectural flourish will create a mixture of solid glass cladding and balcony space, allowing for residents to benefit from panoramic cityscape views.

Units above the 21st floor will include enclosed winter gardens, while some lower-level units will have balconies. Amenities will include a pool, sauna, steam room, gym, and yoga studio, along with a lounge. The bottom of the tower will be given over to the purpose of a boutique hotel with just 35 rooms. Slated for completion in 2020, The Pacifica will be a welcome addition to the local skyline, part of Auckland's ongoing urban transformation.
