TCC Assets Company Limited and Frasers Centrepoint Limited recently revealed their plans for the largest private-sector development in Thailand, with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill tapped as the lead architect. The 16.7-hectare project next to Lumphini Park is set to host a diverse interior program of residential, hotel, office, and retail uses, while a signature tower of 380 metres serves as the focal point.

The $3.5 billion USD One Bangkok scheme will see approximately 60,000 people living and working in the new district when completed in 2025. The vertical village — in which each building possesses a distinct design — will be amplified on the ground with eight hectares of public plazas and landscaped green space. A multidisciplinary team of local and international architects, engineers, and landscape architects have been appointed to the project.

The first phase of the development is expected to come online in 2021. Altogether, One Bangkok will boast a gross floor area of 1.83 million square metres, with five Grade A office towers built to LEED standards. There will be five luxury and lifestyle hotels, three ultra-luxury residential towers, vibrant art and culture facilities, and a substantial retail component.

"No single development of this scale and diversity has ever been undertaken in Thailand," said Panote Sirivadhanabhakdi, CEO of Frasers Centrepoint Limited. "One Bangkok will be a vibrant lifestyle destination that will affirm Bangkok's position among the most desirable cities in the world to live, do business, and to visit. It will attract top-level local and multinational companies to set up their AEC headquarters in the district as Bangkok's most prestigious corporate address, and their employees and visitors will enjoy an unrivalled ecosystem of facilities and lifestyle experiences available here."
