Danish fashion company Bestseller has proposed a massive complex in their hometown that includes, if built to current specifications, the tallest building in Denmark. Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter was appointed as the architect for the mixed-use headquarters in Brande, a small railway town with a population of less than 10,000 people.

The multi-faceted scheme envisions a surfeit of retail, offices, educational spaces, hotel facilities, and areas for public events. At its core, it features a slender skyscraper of over 200 metres tall, employing a simple grid design reminiscent of Manhattan's 432 Park Avenue. Renderings released along with Bestseller's August announcement show several greenery-topped rectilinear structures creating a network of pathways.

"Retailing and store environments are part of our DNA in Bestseller and it therefore makes perfect sense to mix real life customer experiences into our daily life," said project associate Anders Krogh Vogdrup. "Real customers provide us with learnings that we can use to become even better at what we do."

Vogdrup said the project is intended not as a rival to the current store in the downtown core, but as a supplement. The company hopes that the ambitious development will "create a sustained customer base in Brande" that also "places Brande on the map."

The hotel component addresses the lack of accommodation facilities in the town. Bestseller notes that business travelers typically find lodging in nearby cities like Herning and Aarhus to stay overnight. Plans to introduce "educational institutions" will also "create more life and vigour for the area," reads Bestseller's announcement.

The project likely won't begin construction until 2019 at the earliest. Additional information can be found in the Database file linked below.
