It's been nearly a year since we last visited construction of the 57-storey Echo Brickell, a joint venture between Property Markets Group and JDS Development Group that has since reached its final height. With the bulk of the exterior complete, the 180 units within the Carlos Ott-designed residential skyscraper are now being executed to a design by Yoo Studio.

Branding for the building has already been installed on the base of the tower, which continues to be segregated from the streetscape as work progresses. The tined curtain wall glazing of the highrise catches the sunlight like a convex mirror on the upper levels of the building, which undulate to endow the skyline with a distinctive silhouette. Balconies spreading horizontally across the entire elevation on the opposing facades will offer panoramic water and city views.

Levels 48 through 53 include the penthouse collection, split between lower penthouses, upper penthouses and the massive 13,618-square-foot Carlos Ott penthouse, which spans the top two storeys with four bedrooms, a pool and a gym. Residents without their own in-suite amenities will be able to utilize the communal amenities package, which comes with a vanishing-edge pool and a state-of-the-art 2,800-square-foot fitness centre.

Set for completion in early 2018, the building is rooted along Brickell Avenue, where a number of new highrises have taken shape over the past few years. Most of these additions have incorporated 'Brickell' into their official names to capitalize on the prestige and aura of the north-south high street, which cuts through the financial district.
