It is important to state that the city has screwed up bollards before. This street was designed to have bollards from the start but unfortunately they managed to choose ones that can't stop vehicles, get damaged easily when cars back into them by accident, and spaced them so far apart that you can find a way to get through them. There is design work to do, but normally you can complete that design work and talk to all parties in a 5 year time frame. There shouldn't be a question about whether or not the bollard would penetrate into the station because one would hope that with the station only recently having been worked on someone has a diagram that shows where the station is and a what depth. Definitely not rocket science, but definitely don't blindly use a bollard that some other place used because they look decent enough. Many of those other bollards are located much further from the street and have never been run into.

Can we at least have a "Malmo barrier"?

Can we at least have a "Malmo barrier"?
Of course not - you know we never copy things from elsewhere (particularly from foreign places) we need to invent our own barrier system here in Toronto. I suspect the prototype may be at the scale model stage soon but it will then need to be fully tested for several climatic cycles and tested against a Maple Leafs Stanley Cup Winning crowd - which only happens every century. Patience!

Permit news.............but no.........not more retail..............just in time for mostly finishing the original Union Station revitalization we have a permit to disassemble what was done! LOL

What is this for? From the retail area in the lower concourse?? One would expect as they reconfigure platforms or complete the standardized platform access points that temporary access would be required between the concourse levels and the platforms. However, why on earth would they need to access the retail level unless they botched the lower level design from a fire code perspective?

No no no no no don’t tell me they messed up the Market AGAIN, they’ve already built it; demolished it; and built it.
Same location and angle in 2018 and 2022:

This is part of the revitalization. The Telus Ramp will be hoarded off and it requires an alternate access.

Good to know. The old ramp from Telus to the GO concourse was half closed so I thought they were doing half of the stairs at a time so no closure would be required, but I guess they closed half of the ramp for some other purpose or that plan didn't work out.
