The Bow is already up a couple feet over last week, nothing concerning so far though, this looks to be a typical June water level. Tonight is the really heavy rain, so we will see what happens...

Yeah, I noticed the first tiny bit of overland flooding yesterday in the boardwalk area of Lindsay Park. Nothing major, very small. But this is the highest I’ve seen the Elbow since 2013 without a doubt. Though, that is not to say it is even remotely close to the 2013 level of course.
For reference, the pebble beach usually in the first pic is a good 4 feet down.

There are some lower level apartments facing the river on 24 Ave that are at risk. I am pretty sure there was some flooding there in (I want to say) 2005 or 6. That year was one of the worst for flooding along the Elbow up until 2013.

The Elbow doesn't look much different than a typical June. I too these pics in 2019. In a couple days it will be extremely high though, will easily beat the level in my pics.

The Elbow was pretty high yesterday afternoon; it's down somewhat today. The above photo is from noonish today; you can see the water line and the strip of dead leaves and twigs from yesterday's high water line.
This was entirely a man-made flow. They were running it high to drain down the reservoir to hold the incoming water. Here's the Elbow River below the Glenmore dam:
And here it is above the dam in the Weaselhead, not even getting to low-normal (1st quartile):
Which worked; they drained about 1/3 of the reservoir on Sunday:
The Bow is high normal both here and upstream, but the Ghost reservoir (note: longer time scale in graph) has a lot of room.

That’s good news. I knew they were draining the reservoirs. I believe they didn’t get to it in time in 2013.
How do these flow rates and capacity rates compare to the first day of the storm in 2013 I wonder…

I'm curious if the reservoirs on the Bow are drawn down extra right now. Ghost lake usually drops 30% I think?

I'm beside the river, will have to keep an eye on my basement. I'm pretty far back and quite a ways above the river, but the sewers could easily back up still...

Looks like we’re mostly out of the woods. The Bow River looks like it won’t crest in the city til this afternoon now, but only flooding along lower lying parks essentially

Cochrane was seeing a flow rate of 405 m3/s as of 04:15, while downtown. Was only seeing 382 at 05:05, so still some increase to go. Won’t be so bad though

All I can say is I'm very happy it snowed in the mountains, if that fell as rain we would be in a very different situation! Lots of trees down around the city, what a storm in the middle of all that rain!
