I stopped by the Icehouse again. This time the bar was fairly busy but not as insane during a home game, so I stayed for a mug of beer and a chat with an awesome female bartender (Carly). There's still some glitches to work through - for instance, the Oilers scored in the opening 2nd period but the PA was still tuned to a basketball game and there was a failure to sound the horn until a minute after the fact.

There should be a Wayne Gretzkys restaurant in ICE District since there is one in Toronto.
I also think it's a shame that Seven80 carries Oilers-related gear but they have no location near Rogers Place.

There's been rumors of Cactus setting up there or their other brand King's Taps?

Pre-pandemic it was supposed to be coming to a location near but not in Ice district.

They have been doing corrective work to help mitigate multiple issues with windows shattering, popping and falling.

That they said would be done by this fall...

had lunch at King's Taps in Kelowna 2 weeks ago and wouldn't say no to one of those. Just wish we a marina to build next to.

Relatively cheap advertising for banks given the market here. Expensive for local places, unless you've expanded to a chain setup like Icehouse. Wonder if the food court in Stantec stays as is or if they ever do anything else with it. Same with the former Rexall space that closed and never opened again.

King Taps only has 2 locations, in Toronto and Kelowna. A far cry from Cactus Club, which appears to have a location in almost every corner of the Lower Mainland.

How about a Keg? It needs to return from the suburbs after the Old Strathcona location closed a few years ago.
It can setup shop at Stantec in the vacated Rexall or in what was supposed to be the food court.

I think 104 Street might be a slightly better location for the Keg, although the Ice District is also good.

Ice would be IDEAL for the Keg given hotels, parking, big events etc.

So 6 Steakhouses already within 2 1/2 blocks of Ice District excluding places like Japanese Village. Which one will go under if a Keg opens in Ice District? My guess is DOSC and Chop.

CHOP is a different demographic and experience.
