I think he was referring to the fact that Populous isn't involved in this project, HOK and Dialog are the Architects.

I mistakenly said Populous as the consultant (should've said CAA ICON), not sure where I got Populous from... Weren't they the inverted bowl people?

Populous do design a lot of arenas, think they did T-mobile in Vegas. Rosetti are the brain behind the inverted bowl, not sure if it's ever been built though.

I think the Videotron Arena is about as close as there is to it that I’m aware of. It’s not an inverted bowl but the upper bowl gets pretty steep to achieve a similar effect.

The inverted bowl seems like a great idea, but I can understand hesitancy of being the first big arena to implement and the unknown maintenance/long term effects that that decision could yield

From what I remember hearing in city council the design team of the event centre initially looked at the inverted bowl design but concluded it was only viable up to around 15,000 seats and so they scrapped the idea. If you think about it it does make sense because you can only stack so many levels with 3-4 rows of seating on top of 1-2 suite levels before the seating becomes too steep.

Also why does the tent need to be there? Cant they just use the millions of parking space around the Saddledome instead of that specific spot lot lol. Like I don't get what is so hard to get any major thing done here. Green line is another example.

Ummm...because those spaces are a little busy during Stampede?

Since Cowboys (or whoever owns them) don't own the land this must be them working with the Stampede to have a tent close to the Casino and the Stampede saying, 'the Events Centre lot is good'. They're also setting up another tent in the NW parking lot of the other side of BMO.

Side note: I never noticed the DP for the Events Centre says 'Coliseum', I had no idea that was its DP designation. There was also of course, 'Restaurants - licensed, Drinking establishments, Accessory food services, Entertainment establishments, Retail stores, Outdoor cafes, Offices, Parking areas and parking.' structures.

Sure, but the other lots he was suggesting are used for the midway/attractions/operations

I'm sure the lot generates great revenue for parking, but it looks like a little over 250 stalls...not the most efficient use of space even if they manage to turn it over 2-3 times in a day.
