I think those renders are a bit of a stretch…

Showing green roof in aerial as if it won’t be dedicated to parked cars (as you can see the roof entrance from the following angle)…

And a cafe and outdoor patio at a car dealership? For whom? 🤔 …and to look at what? Perhaps the new South bridge would look stunning from that location.

Just my two cents… thinking out loud.

I think that the restaurant there is a great idea. There will be an interesting stop off on the south side of the bridge halfway along Cherry street. Perhaps there will be views of new Porsches from the resto. In addition despite all the car haters on here there is an abundant number of car enthusiasts as well.

I think the cafe/patio is a great idea! Good location for it (next to new bike and walking paths!). Will capture lots of ancillary revenue for the dealership (undoubtedly help with the cyclicality of selling >$200K cars), promote the brand (funny how quickly Toronto hipsters become wealthy spendthrifts in Toronto), and good use of the location. IMO.

Porsche sells bikes.

I thought it was obvious. How many $10,000 bikes have you seen ridden around downtown Toronto or on trails or locked in bike racks?

The people that buy $10,000 bikes also buy car themed condos with attached high rise garages. The rage for these hasn't come to Toronto

I'm sure even Porsche owners(and potential owners) are deserving of a place of worship, but please don't tell me that we just spent millions constructing a new riverbed, creating a new island, and transporting three beautiful new bridges over 2000km only to allow an upscale car dealership to be built on the city's last, undeveloped prime waterfront land. I'm all for residential communities with a healthy mix of commercial and even light industrial...it's done quite well in many European countries such as The Netherlands. I also understand the city's need for immediate property tax revenue to pay for this wonderful transformation of our portlands, but I do wonder if there isn't a better spot for this one.

As it really does feel like a big joke. On one hand, if it gets it out of Corktown and distillery then may all the other lots join them.

But the idea we’ve been soooo excited about discovering centuries hidden plants and brought back all the nature and wildlife just to build this… during a “housing crisis”? Ffs. Makes that waterfront Home Depot looks quaint by comparison.

I figure the coffee shop is less a whole thing and more like something they include to keep clientele happy during oil changes. Gonna be awhile before there’s a place the rich can grab a drink while awaiting their midlife crisis mobile to be ready. Though, is the driving range really year round? I could see that working well. If the driving range continues to exist.
