Great photos.

I noticed plenty of people working in and around the 407/Hurontario corridor the last few days I passed by. Seems they're working on inspecting the formwork and checking the integrity of the girders after the weather we've had. There were a few mobile cranes, but I haven't seen any cement trucks as of yet. I'll swing by when I'm off on a Sunday and take a glance in the area when I get a chance.

April 1
Came home by the QEW tonight and had a look at a few things with more up on my site.

They are digging a trench across Hurontario Lanes on the south side of the North Service road for utilities,

The northbound lane curb is now poured and it removed the bus stop bay. You can see in the photos why the full width of the guideway cannot be built due to the 4 hydro poles in the road that have to be relocated first.

Northbound guideway curb poured between Sherobee and the Queensway with paving taking place for the gap area.

Guideway base form for pouring the base between the fire hall and Paisley as well between Hillcrest and John St.

April 3
More up on my site

The base for the ramp from Sq One Dr to the elevated section is pour. Someone doesn't like the workmanship for the gap between the Guideway curb and the road as it was being rebuilt between Sq One and Robert Speck. The 2nd location in the past week to see this work.

Small crew working on the elevated section with pour wall over City View and form work on both side of it.

The centre curb poured north of the bridge with the base waiting to be our. Cooksville station platform work has started with the duct work for it.

Crew pouring the southbound track base between John St and Hillcrest. Northbound could be pour on Sat subject to weather. First time I seen a pour and workmanship being video tape.

I expect the guideway under the bridge will take place once there is no need for storing material as well truck access to the guideway.

Glad they're videotaping. They really don't want any further delays, and the reason for it seems to be, "this is literally what you told us to do, and this is what happens when you do it that way."

Hoping to see/hear more about the elevated section connection from 403 onto Hurontario. That's the part I'm very interested in right now.

April 4
looking at the gap area from Burnhamthorpe to Sq One Dr, all of it has been redone and paved. Need to look between Burnhamthorpe and Elm to see if that gap has been redone which i expect has happen since they did Elm to Central Pkwy. Wondering who paying for this and a waste of time and money.

As of April 10, Topflight is close to all traffic off Hurontario with signs up saying so. Nothing on Topflight saying traffic cannot can get on to Hurontario. Taking a guess that it has to due with the missing curbs that could not be done in January 2024 and install 2 tall intersection support poles. Maybe the track work has to be fix. Have to wait to see what will take place

2 Sub stations are now installed by the 407 bus terminal on the east side and don't recall seeing any work for the base the last time I was in the area. Then, most likely miss it as I was looking at the OS system.

Amico is doing the 407 bridges. From what I can see, standard rebar is being place for the road area and nothing so far for the guideway. Guideway is form with work taking place to form the barrier wall between the Guideway and the road. Looks like late May or June opening of the new road bridge depending on the road work on both sides of the bridge. Hard to say if the guideway will be done at the same time or will be completed after the road bridge is open. Once the northbound lanes are shifted to the new bridge, guideway can be built in phases for the off ramp traffic.

Was planning on having a look at the Brampton area, but forgot to do it.

April 6
As I was leaving town by the 403 west at 7 am today, police had the Robert Speck east-west traffic block off on both sides of the intersection which was odd since nothing stopping drivers from making a left turn off Hurontario. Surveying was taking place for the intersection as well a crew doing a power wash of the trackwork including the groove area. I guess checking track and road levels.

April 9
Was at City Hall today and noticed they have upgraded the city core model display including the LRT

The word is for April 10 Closure for Topflight intersection, be prepared for long travel time either by car or transit as the northbound traffic will be using one southbound lane starting at Kingsway for the next 3 months while all of the intersection is totally rip up and rebuilt. Doing Burnhamthorpe Intersection will be 5-6 months by another contractor as Mobilinx will not be doing it. Steeles station will be on the southside as plan, unless ML gets its act together and move it to the northside where it is to be in the first place.

Trackwork starts in May with the main push for the north end as the LRV's are schedule to start burn in and testing to Eglinton in July.

May will also see King St intersection work for the guideway across it. It will be follow by Dundas with no left turns. The detour at Dundas is being caused by the city until Kings intersection is done.

Trackwork is supposed to start in May going south from Sq One Dr.

Haven't heard what intersection will follow Dundas at this time.

All the ductwork in place for Cooksville Station and backfill waiting forming of the platform.

Concrete was being pour for the 2 missing section of the retaining wall north of the hydro sub station.

Lots of crews around the Dundas Intersection looking for bury utilities as well measuring X with the walking wheel. Very little to do from Dundas to Sq One Dr until May or sooner.

Not surprising that they're sticking to SB past Gateway, surely someone has to know where their head is at with that decision.

That being said, I'm hoping they can reach substantial completion soon with the warmer weather coming our way.

As for the renders, it's hilarious to me how they cut off the section I'm most interested in, which is how they plan on entering the elevated section from Hurontario.

Not in the city core model plan area.

You can see the ramp to Hurontario from the 403 that will connect just south of the 403 off ramp and before where southbound traffic is stopping today in my photos posted or on my site.

You always can visit the area to see where it will connect first hand and you can see where the connection will be regardless work has happen yet.

Substantial completion will not happen this year.

As for Steeles, blame Brampton when they kill the line north of Steeles with the southbound location been able to handle any route Brampton came up with when they made up their mind.

If it wasn't for the fact the project is 2 years late, Ford wouldn't had announced in 2024 as well this year that the extensions were ago with the station already in place. ML is the problem for the two extensions as well not covering the cost to move the station and building the wye at Burnhamthorpe. Its only money the ML normally throughout the widows the last decade or so.

Based on how far south the guideway remains in the median, I expect we will see something like the following (drawn on my phone) where the signal is shared with the off ramp intersection, but the southbound stopping line is moved far back.

That is what I am seeing, but not sure of the curve as I see a smooth one. I could be wrong. They moved the southbound stop location to the north like the plan to allow the track out onto Hurontario. This means the LRV will move on/off Hurontario while the light is red for the off ramp traffic to turn.

Did a drive through this morning, and completely forgot to bring my drone, so I only ended up taking one photo. However, Topflight Drive is going to be closed from April 14th at midnight based on the alternating sign they have on Hurontario now.

As for the lanes going over the 407, I want to say they have about 1-2 more months worth of work to be done, but they seem to be progressing well since we've gotten much warmer weather.

There's a bit of equipment that has been moved to around the courthouse in Brampton and further north, but everything remains relatively the same as it has for the last year to two years in this section.

Which specific aspect of the job are you asking about?

How does that even happen??

Could a combination of a number of things starting with poor engineering design, material and poor workmanship. This will be the second tearing up of the intersection and the first for the trackwork and roadwork. They had to tear up the base of the intersection and other areas that I did not see at that time. The trackwork is a style I haven't seen before either in NA or Europe.

What is the problem for this work is unknown to me at this time, but most likely be workmanship based on other work I have seen so far. Some special trackwork had to be reorder due to material not meeting specifications from what I have heard as well posted my someone or someone forgot to order it.
