So I don't have a lot of info on this one but looks like they have started on the commercial space around the gateway casino in Wasaga Beach from what I know this is a fairly large mall as well as two hotels though I'm having a hard time finding any further info

They needed to do something. It is in the middle of a barren wasteland; 'spare ground' I think they say in the UK. Then again, ours in North Bay is next to a truck stop. Once the patrons are inside they don't care; that's why there's no windows in a casino.

That Costco is going to make Lyons Ct. and that traffic circle very busy. When I used to visit my brother and SIL in Meaford from Penetang, I used to hate getting through the Beach.

Here’s the link for the access the DAS Development project on the Wasaga Beach onedrive website DAS Development (Phase 2)

In addition with site plan and renderings with a 112 room Hampton Inn and 129 room Home2Suites hotels planned, A Circle K gas station, and fast food restaurants (like Harvey’s and McDonald’s).

The more I look into it today more impressed I am It is actually almost the same scale as the beach area one redevelopment also laughing because I said last week when I drove past that the forest had nearly fully regrown there

It's actually not too bad down there other than Beach road being blocked off they groomed most of the sites and have just opened them to the public as walkthroughs with the exception of the north most portion which they have started to develop for the five stories

This particular area where this is going in has been pretty well desolate since 2020 as COVID scaled back the casino project massively though it appears that the final stages are being realized now

But part of the charm was the strip of shops and restaurants along the road where one could take a break from the beach. I won't return until the strip has been replaced.

From what I have seen with the towns timeline Beach road should be reopened by next summer hoping that they have at least a couple of those three stories with commercial in the base complete to bring back a little bit of that vibe but next year will be mostly filled with construction of the six story buildings from what I can see in the phasing so you're still probably about 2 years off

I agree with your thoughts about the timeline on the main beach area. I was going to open a new thread about the beachfront development, but discovered since I am a newer member that I need a minimum of 20 posts to be eligible to post new threads. Since I am no where close to that, I hope you don't mind me adding info about the history and timeline of the beach area here over the next few days.

This is what the main beach area looks like as of a few minutes ago - pretty desolate. The first shot is from the parking lot looking at the beach at Spruce Street - the second is from the parking lot looking east from 2nd Avenue. Lots of construction preparation going on.
