I couldn't believe that all it took to move something up 15 months was $73 million. Peanuts on a $212B budget
It is amassing what 7/24 work will do for a project like this. All projects should be 7/24 where possible. The $73m is about 35% increase to the main budget.

For sure, I just mean when you add up the value of all the hours over 18 months that people spent in traffic, $73 is just pretty small.
So you save a few hours now but you will loose it in the coming years as more cars hit the roads and back to square one. Cities were not built for cars but people when there was no thing of a car or transit. Transit play a big part for building Toronto before and after the arrival of the cars.

I doubt they will close any major arterials this weekend or between October 30th to November 1st.

Both of those are home dates for the World Series and traffic will be bad.

These are exceptional circumstances.

I doubt anyone had Blue Jays going to the World Series on their bingo card when they scheduled things.
It's not like the capacity of the Skydome increases during the World Series. And extra media, etc., are hardly driving from Etobicoke. I don't see how two weekend games for two weekends should make much difference to anything. There's always stuff going on somewhere.

Yes but this is not an average game.

There will be people coming from across town, out of town, etc to get Downtown for the game. There is also the Raptors Home Opener this Friday.

Think of it like when the Raptors went to the NBA Finals. The area around the stadium was a mess.

Ah ... yeah, that's a good point.

Oh well ... first world problems.

As a Toronto taxpayer who welcomes more people to the core; question/survey

A. Who paid for Taylor Swift traffic and external security to the Rogers Centre for 4 nights.

B. Who is paying for the same for the hopefully 4 Jay’s games?

C. Who is paying for the same for the World Cup games at the Ex and around the core?

Monday night game 7 with one day notice vs a 5 day notice of the World Series weekend game will bring much bigger downtown crowds. 8pm start time will reduce the office crowd simultaneous traffic.

Who will have the bigger crowds & traffic related complaints and congestion? A or B or C.
My guess is B but I guess it depends on who is playing in the World Cup games.

Who will have the biggest traffic security bill for tax payers for say 4 nights & ~40k people per night being equal? My guess is C.
Go Jays.

It seems the city wants the hydrid design built by 2030/31 with traffic been deverted to the lake Shore and QQE during the construction that will effect the building of the QQE LRT. This will include the new alignment of the Lake Shore as well.

There is a public meeting tomorrow for the LRT and an info area setup for the Gardiner and a few other things.

Literally every single ball game has this.
At $1000/minimum for a ticket, it greatly ups the chance of people from further distances driving in, and especially those who may feel they're "better" than taking the GO/TTC.

Literally every single ball game has this.

Yes but this is not every other ball game.

This is for all the marbles and it is being watched by fans of not only Toronto but teams across North America. The pomp and circumstance associated with this game differs greatly from your average 3 game homestand in the middle of July.

I would counter with the WS is slightly different. I'm making the trek in from Burlington with a group of buddies to watch the game at a bar with our Toronto friends. Something we would never do for a regular season ball game, leafs game, etc
I would counter that it's not different. I know of people who came in from Belleville, Stoney Creek, Barrie and Woodstock for lowly regularly season games.
