That makes sense to me. As resident in the area, I am really looking forward to this new urban park. On another note, I really hope they repave the area behind the Canada Public Building to clean it up. It looks pretty beaten up due to construction equipment.

The project on the DPB is still 'active' so I suspect the best we will see are patches on this (private) lane - which belongs to DPB.

Sad, but you are likely correct, unless Hines has to restore it properly as part of an agreement to use the property? One can hope. Would be a shame to leave it ugly next to a beautiful new public space.

Even if construction does not start, I bet we see it fenced off within the next year and even if it's not I assume most people will stick to the CIBC side!

Why would it be fenced off in the next year? I don't think the condo development is anywhere close to starting.

They are about to finalise their Section 37 'contributions' and last I heard hope to start work of some kind before the end of 2026.

I am so confused. Who is finalizing their Section 37 contributions, the condo development? Why would they do that before starting their development?

The developer, who is continuing to get his permits lined up. Section 37 and similar 'fees' are negotiated during the to-ing and fro-ing of municipal approvals. Note that the original canopy that formerly ran along the south facade of the building (over the Lane discussed above) will be reinstated.
