We're in the same boat. This delay has screwed things up for me and others as well... but I guess I'm not surprised. They are exactly within the law here (a law which does not look out for buyers).

By law they must give 65 days days notice if they are moving the confirmed final closing date. However, if they don't, well, that's ok. There is another law that says if they are giving less than 35 days notice they can move the confirmed closing date by no more than 15 more days. In this case, we are entitled to nothing. If they move it again then we are entitled to something, but it's really just pennies.
 
I'll know better next time. My closing date was for the 4th and gave myself the extra day. My new closing date actually got delayed to the 19th so that is a 15 day delay.

My closing date is Jan 19th and I haven't received such a letter YET! I hope they don't move it because we've already booked our flights.

The odd thing is that I called costumer service 5 days ago before confirming the flights to ask if there was a chance for the closing to be delayed and they told me there was absolutely no reason for it to be delayed!!!!

I wonder if they had already sent the letters by then?

I called Costumer service and they told me My closing date has not changed it still is Jan 19.
We will move in that day and stay until Jan 30th and then go until we are ready to move back to Canada in a few month. If any of you needs a temporary place in Casa because of this, you can contact me. If our unit is not rented by then, we could help.
 
PDI Pics...Foglia

Well I had my PDI today...my unit is a Foglia in the 30's. There were several things that still needed to be fixed/finished (torn screen doors x 2, broken glass sliding door to balcony, uninstalled dishwasher and missing kickplates, outlet covers etc. All minor stuff (well except the shattered door) but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the unit itself. Actually, I'm really excited about my new place...this being my first home purchase.

The elevator was all boarded up...but the floor buttons looked pretty cool. I was impressed with the look and quality of the hallways. The entry door was a beautiful wooden heavy door (my pic doesn't do it justice)...and the wallpaper and lighting in the hallway looked like high quality and tasteful.

Foglia Kitchen PDI Pics

Here's some pics from my kitchen...I struggled for awhile as I kind of didn't really like any of the (only) 3 choices we had for cabinets in the showroom. I decided to go with the standard white melamine ones but I thought the showroom sample looked cheap...low-end Walmart-ish almost. So I was preparing for the worst and planning to replace them if they looked really low end. So I was pleasantly surprised to find they looked really quite nice...they felt solid, heavy, and more expensive than the showroom sample. They are in fact Scavolini...I thought that was just the super expensive upgraded kitchen cabinetry. I think they look quite good and go well with the stainless steel appliances...so I'm gonna keep them.

I picked a standard nero assoluto granite countertop, but upgraded it to to have a thickened 2" edge and upgraded to the undermounted rectangle sink. I picked a standard white backpainted backsplash.

I also upgraded the appliance package to the Kitchen Aid ones...and I'm happy I did that. I think overall the kitchen looks pretty good.

Foglia Living Room

Here are a few pics of the living room...it felt smaller in person than all these months of seeing it in blueprints...but I knew that was to be expected.

I upgraded the hardwood floors to the 3" wide chocolate brown ones...and ugraded to remove the carpet and put hardwood in both bedrooms.

I thought the standard brown in the showroom was nice but had a bit of a reddy hue to it so I decided to go for the darker brown.

And I thought it was better to upgrade the floors at the same time as the original floor was being laid (rather than do it myself later) to keep continuity because I thought I might have trouble matching it up later. (I also checked with a flooring store and they were saying that they couldn't do it much cheaper than Cresford was charging....one thing I guess that they didn't super-inflate.) I tried to limit my upgrades to things that I really couldn't do later that easily.

My pics below don't really show it but it actually feels quite bright and airy. My west view has nothing obstructing it...but I forgot to take a pic facing that way. The views below are north facing...where I see the top of BSN.

The balcony on this unit was much longer than I thought it would be...so that was a nice surprise. I'm gonna probably use my balcony a ton. It measured 5' wide and 29' along the north side of the unit and 22' along the west side.

Foglia Bathroom

Well for the bathroom...I chose just the standard finishes. Again I wasn't too excited about the choices as I was hoping for a funky cool sink and toilet like they had in the showroom...but those weren't even available as upgrades! So I decided to go for standard...and maybe re-do the bathroom at some point if I didn't like it. However I think it turned out as well as I could have expected from the choices I had. I actually really like the fixtures in the bathroom and the tub.

For the apron of the bathtub you had a choice to use the floor tile and have that go up the side of it, or you could use the tub wall tile. I chose the tub wall tile and I think it looks pretty good.

Window Coverings for Casa owners

Went back to Alleens at College Park today. (They have a 50% off, free installation ad running).

Dealt with Irena. She was fantastic.

The cost to cover a foglia unit with 5% or 3% solar shades will be $3900 to $4100 plus tax. This is an amazing price considering my earlier research revealed it would cost about $8500

Irena said they have this offer extended to all Casa owners (although I don't recall seeing anything about this).

Anyways, if you want a deal on solar shades check out Alleens.

A simnple question from someone who has no sense of colours.

Isn't chocolate brown colour for the floor too dark? Any reasons for not choosing a light colour floors

I'm in the market for blinds. How much window wall does the price include? 15 ft, 20 ft?

That price is for a corner unit. One window wall is 22 feet long. The other window wall is 34 feet long. Ceiling is nine feet high.

Thanks, Casaguy. Agree that Irena at Aleens is great. I checked a couple of months ago and she priced out some options for my Foglia. Said she was going to look at putting together a deal for Casa owners. Looks like she did just that. I'll go back and see what they have to offer.
 
I've been buying at Alleen's in College Park since the early '90's, probably six times now. They're great to work with, have great selections and do very good installations. I recommend them too. They can be expensive but you get what you pay for here so if they're offering 50% off, you can't go wrong. If I recall, installation has always been free.
